5. Warning

Music by Brent Lewis, Lyrics by Perry Crawford

My children look up to the sky as colors loomed above.
Choking smog impersonates the sunsets that they love.
Pollutions' Red Sky Warning streaks across a cloudless sky,
As life within its dark embrace will all too quickly die.

We're standing on a vista point above a mountain lake,
The striking autumn colors in the spring are hard to take.
Pollutions Brown Tree Warning gives the pines an amber hue,
Something that the evergreens should never have to do.

We have warnings from the sky
Warnings from the sea,
The Earth is warning you and me.

I taught my children how to fish and how to let them go,
The taste of campfire fish fries are a joy they'll never know.
Pollutions Sick Fish Warning says that they are not to eat,
The dumping and the acid rain have poisoned all the meat.

The lake, and now the river have a green and murky look,
A yellow foam and oily slick now covers every brook.
Pollutions Water Warning is the evil taste and smell,
The liquid gift from heaven has become a puss from hell.

A nightmare haunts my sleep at night like shadows in a mist,
Of creatures on a Death March, an endangered species list.
Pollutions Nightmare Warning leaves me ever more afraid,
To live to see the day our children join in that parade.

The time is not too late although we've daunting work to do.
It starts by taking action though our numbers may be few.
The Tribes United Chorus warn with rhythm and with rhyme
To take the healing action that will stand the test of time.

We have warnings from the sky
Warnings from the sea,
The Earth is warning you and me.
